Weekly round-up (August 24-28)

This week has been dominated by affordable smartphones but it was the mid-range devices that were in the limelight. Sony, Panasonic, and Meizu launched their smartphones in the Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 segment while Intex, Videocon, Alcatel, Swipe, Micromax, and Videocon brought few affordable phones. Meanwhile, another Chinese brand, Zopo, formally entered the Indian market this week. Read on to find out the devices which were launched this week.

Panasonic Eluga Switch – Rs 19,990

The Panasonic Eluga Switch is armed with a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display, Android Lollipop OS, and an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which runs with 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the Panasonic Eluga Switch stands at 32 GB, to which you cannot add any more. The primary camera is a 13 megapixel shooter, while the front of the phone has an 8 megapixel selfie taker. The Panasonic Eluga Switch is a single-SIM phone with 4G, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and WiFi. The power is provided by a 2910 mAh battery.

Intex Aqua 3G Neo – Rs 3,690

The Intex Aqua 3G Neo is equipped with a 4 inch IPS display with resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. The phone runs on Android KitKat and has a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, which runs with 512 MB of RAM. The internal memory stands at 4 GB to which you can add another 32 GB via a micro SD card. The primary camera is a 2 megapixel camera and the front of the phone has a VGA selfie shooter. The dual-SIM Intex Aqua 3G Neo is a 3G phone with GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth for connectivity. The 1500 mAh battery can provide up to 7.5 hours of talk time or 180 hours of standby.

The Meizu MX5 is armed with a 5.5 inch full HD AMOLED display. It runs on Android Lollipop, and has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, which runs with 3 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the Meizu MX5 stands at 32 GB, which is unfortunately cannot be expanded. The primary camera is a 20.7 megapixel shooter, while in its front lies a 5 megapixel selfie taker. This dual-SIM phone offers 4G, GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, and a 3150 mAh battery.

The Zopo Speed 7 is equipped with a 5 inch full HD IPS display with super narrow bezels. The phone runs on Android Lollipop, and has an octa-core 1.5 GHz processor, which runs with 3 GB of RAM. The internal memory stands at 16 GB to which you can add another 64 GB via a microSD card. The phone offers a 13 megapixel primary camera and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter. The dual-SIM Zopo Speed 7 is a 4G phone and offers GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 2500 mAh battery that can provide up to 10 hours of talk time or 120 hours of standby time.

The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra is armed with a 6 inch full HD IPS display. It runs on Android Lollipop, and has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, which runs with 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra stands at 16 GB and has an expandable storage slot to which you can add a massive 2 TB microSD card.
