Google has announced discounts on apps and other content via the Play Store for the Indian markets. The discounts are available for games, movies and applications from various categories. The price of the popular game Minecraft: Story Mode has slashed to just Rs 6.63, making it the cheapest game on offer. Besides, Google has also slashed 75% off movie rentals (HD and SD), which includes some popular titles like Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Queen, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Rockstar, Piku and several others. The promo expires at midnight on the 4th of January.

Celebrating its first anniversary in the country, Vivo Mobile India announced the commencement of its manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida. The new unit will cater to the manufacturing and assembling of Vivo smartphones, creating more jobs and decreasing the company’s dependence on imports, a top official of Vivo said.

Idea Cellular also joined the league of 4G service providers in the country with the launch of its 4G LTE services across five southern states — Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. In the first phase, the company’s 4G network will be available across 75 towns in southern India.

On the other hand, Vodafone issued a statement in which the company said that it will increase the intensity of its 4G services rollout and by March 2016 it will be launched in Mumbai, Delhi, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

We are all set to kiss goodbye to 2015 and even in the last few days, we are seeing some interesting phones being launched. In this week, Samsung announced the Galaxy A9 in China, which sports a huge 6-inch screen and massive 4,000mAh battery. While the Galaxy A9’s massive 1080p Super AMOLED display positions the new handset firmly in the phablet category, the screen is also 2.5D curved glass.

Another Indian smartphone maker – Zen Mobiles has launched its sub- Rs 5,000 smartphone- Cinemax 2. The smartphone packs in a 5.5-inch qHD IPS display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM and has 8GB of internal memory. It is priced at Rs 4,199.

Portronics has launched their first wearable -YOGG, which is priced at Rs 2,999. The device can be paired with an Android or an iOS device and helps keep track of daily stats like calories burnt, steps takes, etc. It will be a tough competition for YOGG to fight the likes of Xiaomi and Micromax fitness bands as they are priced under- Rs 1,000.

We also saw some action in wireless speakers’ category. Creative has announced the launch ofCreative Woof 3 – a micro-size Bluetooth speaker for smartphone and tablet users. The speaker is shaped like an inverted bell and is encased within the metal alloy housing is a 45mm driver. Priced at MRP Rs. 3,999, the speakers will be exclusively available on Snapdeal.
