Xiaomi’s Senior VP, Hugo Barra, confirmed yesterday that the Mi 5 flagship will be officially unveiled on the 24th of February. As we lead up to the launch of the smartphone, it’s only natural that we encounter a bunch of leaks related to the device.
This new leak takes the cake for being the most comprehensive one we’ve seen so far. We’re seeing the Xiaomi Mi 5 here along with its retail packaging, revealing pretty much everything that we wanted to know about the device.
Although the box is nothing fancy and is pretty much the same as most Xiaomi phones that have launched recently, it’s good to get an early glimpse of a flagship product such as this. As for the device itself, we can see all the markers that previous leaks had mentioned, including the fingerprint scanner on the front with a dedicated home button on the bottom bezel.
Xiaomi is also utilizing a 2.5D curved glass with the display of the Mi 5 to keep bezels to a minimum, which is evident from this image, although not to the extent that the renders had predicted.
We’re also seeing an all new user interface on board here, which was expect given that this is a flagship offering. It should still be running MIUI 7.1 as it was only recently sent out to existing Xiaomi devices. There has been speculation that the Mi 5 will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow underneath, which is yet to be confirmed.
