More people around the world have downloaded Facebook than any other app available for iOS devices, according to a new report from App Annie.
In anticipation of Apple’s big media eventnext week, the app analytics firm took a look back at the most popular apps and games in the iOS App Store’s history, and found that Facebook has several reasons to celebrate. Not only does the social network have the most popular app ever, but it also has the second most popular app — Facebook Messenger.
And that’s not it. Facebook-owned Instagram came in at No. 4 while Zuckerberg and Co.’s WhatsApp Messenger ranked sixth, giving Facebook major bragging rights with four of the top 10 most popular iOS apps.
Meanwhile, Google and Apple also dominated the top 10, collectively accounting for another four of the top 10 spots. Google-owned YouTube came in at No. 3 and the search giant’s Maps app ranked eighth while Apple’s Find My iPhone came in at No. 7 and iTunes U rounded out the list at No. 10.
In fact, Twitter (No. 9) and Microsoft’s Skype (No. 5) are the only apps from other companies to grace the list.
Meanwhile, on the gaming front, Candy Crush Saga is the king of the App Store, ranking as the most downloaded game to date. Fruit Ninja came in second followed by the original Angry Birds, Subway Surfers, and Despicable Me. Rounding out the top 10 were Clash of Clans at No. 6, Temple Run, Angry Birds Rio, Temple Run 2, and Words With Friends.
